DEBIAN Universal Operating System: A joint organization dedicated to creating a free operating system. The operating system is called DebianGNU/Linux, or Debian for short. An operating system is a set of basic programs and tools that make a computer work, the most important part of which is called the kernel. The kernel is the most important program on your computer, performing all basic scheduling tasks and allowing you to run other programs.

The Debian system currently uses the Linux kernel. Linux is software originally created by Linus Torvalds and currently maintained by thousands of programmers around the world.
However, work is also underway to get Debian support for other kernels, most notably the Hurd. Hurd - running on a microkernel (for example, Mach), which perform various functions. Hurd is free software developed by the GNU project.
Most of the core tools of this operating system come from the GNU project, which is why we call them GNU/Linux and GNU/Hurd. These tools are also free.

It is better to choose Ubuntu/Debian. Of course, if you feel like you have too much free time, you can visit the server from time to time to update it, and you can also use ArchLinux.
